I was recently flying to a conference.
As I arrived at the security check up point, a lady was standing there.
She was elegant and well dressed. In her hand was an additional bag.
Inside the bag was a small dog.
Her puppy was the reason I started talking to her. Having one myself, I wonder how her companion handles traveling by plane.

Not surprisingly, we met again on the other side of the security station.
Both having extra time, before our departure, we decided to have a cup of coffee.
We chatted for a moment. I expressed how peaceful I felt in her presence.
We exchanged phone numbers and promised to get in touch again.
It was time to board our planes…

I took the seat by the window. Next to me was sitting a young man.
Conversation unfolded. He shared with me that half a year he works hard up north only to spend the remaining months down south, doing what he loves doing, which is paragliding. I was fascinated by his stories, courage and passion.
At some point, hearing me speaking with an accent, he asked me where am I originally from. One thing led to the next and before we knew we found out that his parents and I were born on the same land, Silesia/ Slask, part of Poland which used to belong to Germany. No wonder he was telling me that he is of German descent.

The plane landed, and as I was leaving my row a lady, who was sitting by the aisle, started telling me that she is going to Abbotsford to surprise her brother, who just moved there. Funny I thought my best friends moved there just the past summer.

As I stepped off the plane there was a text message waiting for me.
Joan, the lady with the dog I had met at Winnipeg’s airport, was asking me if I knew Anne and Peter. These are the names of my son and my daughter in law.  Only later we found out that Joan and I had originally met at their wedding.

I found it amazing and shocking how I was connected with everyone I had met on my journey to the conference.

It reminded me of a story, which was shared with me by a retired nurse.
One of her patients told her, that as she was undergoing surgery her spirit left her body. She was way up above the surgical team observing the action below. What she noticed was a silver thread joining all the team members in the operating room.

Would you say, we are magically connected?.
